At the completion of this class, participants will be well versed in the admission process for a C-section at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus. Families will have a well-rounded understanding of what to expect for themselves and their new baby before, during, and after the procedure. This course will go over preoperative procedures and preparations for surgery, spinal anesthesia, commonly given medications before, during, and after the surgery, and what to expect in the first 12 hours after a C-Section delivery. Families will also be educated on how a Cesarean recovery may differ from a vaginal delivery recovery.
